Original Fox's Brand Confectionery
1880

Fox’s Confectionery founded by Walter Richard Fox in a Victorian warehouse in Leicester.

1897

Fox’s Confectionery now manufacturing over 100 lines.

1918

Fox’s launch the famous clear mint and run a competition among staff to come up with a name and logo for the new product.

Fox’s Glacier Mints and Peppy the Polar Bear are born.

1969

Fox’s acquired by Rowntree Mackintosh and move to new premises in Braunstone Leicester where the brands are still manufactured to this day.

1988

Rowntree Mackintosh acquired by by Nestlé.

2001

Nestlé sells Fox’s to Northern Foods along with Payne’s Poppets, Just Brazils, and XXX Mints.

2003

Big Bear Ltd acquire the company from Northern Foods to add to their Glisten Confectionery business, which is mainly engaged in private label production.

2010

Glisten Confectionery acquired by Raisio.

2011
Raisio Benecol

Big Bear Group acquired by Raisio to fit into their Western Europe brand operation, which includes Glisten Confectionery. Raisio have a strong presence in Scandanavia with breakfast cereal brands and are also the inventors of ‘Plant Stanol Ester’ which enabled the creation of the Benocol brand.

This discovery was highlighted as one of the ten greatest discoveries in worldwide nutrition.

2012
Juicee Gummee

Raisio acquire Candy Plus, based in the Czech Republic. This acquisition opens further new opportunities for Gum and Jelly confectionery products.

2015
Big Bear Confectionery

Confectionery division comes together as Big Bear Confectionery.
